Sir Peter Bazalgette is a British television executive, writer, and arts advocate. He serves as co-Chair of the Creative Industries Council, pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council at the Royal College of Art, Chancellor of the University of the West of England, a non-executive board member at the Department for Education, Chairman of the Baillie Gifford Prize, Business Council Chairman of the Care Leaver Covenant, and senior independent Non-Executive Director on the board of Saga plc.
Serving as Chair of Arts Council England from 2013 until 2017 and as Chair of ITV until 2022, he was also formerly President of the Royal Television Society and Chief Creative Officer of Endemol, where he spearheaded internationally successful formats including Ready Steady Cook and Ground Force. He previously sat on the board of the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport, as well as serving as a non-executive board member of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), on the advisory board of BBH, and as Chair of HM Government’s Holocaust Memorial Foundation.
He is the author of Billion Dollar Game (2005) and The Empathy Instinct (2017).
He was knighted in the 2012 New Years Honours for services to broadcasting.
